Discards, Waveland Elementary If you drove by one of the schools and saw all of the furniture being discarded, you might have thought that it could have been cleaned and reused. On one level, this is true. But most of the furniture is made of tubular steel which filled with salt water and immediately began to rust from the inside out. Within a couple of years, your children would have taken a seat in a desk that would have collapsed with them. The wooden furniture? Schools have just enough money to buy things made of particle board wrapped in veneer. I don't have to tell you what happens to particle board in a flood. |
