Discarded Computers

Before some of these computers were brought in, they had to be washed off with a hose! Others were eaten alive with mold and too contaminated to be brought into a clean environment. Still others had been rained on and had debris blown into their monitors and CPUs. All of this had to be collected into a central location and each piece had to be documented before disposal. Then (drum roll please) the EPA said that computers were hazardous waste and could not be taken to a dump. This was an uphill battle all of the way.
