Dr. Frances Weiler

Dr. Frances Weiler, principal at North Bay for the past seven years, makes an effort to greet children each morning on the boardwalk and send them off each evening with a positive farewell.  She has also implemented the Tiger Paw program, where students who are caught being good or do great work earn Tiger paws.  Once they collect ten tiger paws they may go to the office to choose a children’s book off of Dr.Weiler’s bookshelf.  She says, “This allows the office to be a positive place, not just a place where discipline occurs.”  She also wants to share her own personal love of reading.  When they come in to get their books, she invites them back to tell her about the books they chose to read.  She believes that children should be recognized for doing good.

With an undergraduate degree from Delta State University in secondary education, a masters degree in English along with an administrative certification from the University of Southern Mississippi and a doctorate degree in Educational Administration from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, she certainly has continued to learn and grow in her profession. She has twenty six years of educational experience. Though she has been out of the classroom as a teacher for thirteen years, she was pleased to move from a central office position in the previous district she worked for and back to a school setting.  She proclaims, “Moving from a central office position to become a school administrator made a difference because being with the children makes it all worthwhile.”
